Yorkshire Marathon Route Specifics
The 2025 Yorkshire Marathon will once again start and finish from York University on University Road. Runners will initially head out towards the city centre via Green Dykes Lane, Hull Road, Lawrence Street passing through Walmgate Bar. Runners will then turn left onto St Deny’s Road and right onto Picadilly before using High Ousegate, Spurriergate, Coney Street, St Helen’s Square, Blake Street and Duncombe Place before passing the iconic York Minster. Runners will head out towards Heworth using Monkgate, Heworth Green and Stockton Lane passing Heworth Christ Church, York Caravan Park and Dean’s Garden Centre. Runners will then head through the village of Stockton On The Forest using Sandy Lane and turning right onto Common Lane. Runners will then pass Breezy Knees Gardens onto Northgate Lane and Upper Helmsley. Runners will pass through the village of Sand Hutton and through Buttercrambe Moor Wood. Runners will then head onto The A166 towards Stamford Bridge passing The Three Cups, Rosti and Stamford Bridge Motors. Runners will turn at this point and head back along The A166 passing The Balloon Tree Farm Shop, the village of Gate Hemsley, Cockerill’s the village of Dunnington before turning again at the junction of Murton Lane. Runners will then head towards the village of Holtby passing Holtby Village Hall using Straight Lane and Holtby Lane. Runners will then use Bad Bargain Lane and Moor Lane towards the village of Murton. Runners will pass through the village of Murton using Murton Way and into Osbaldwick using Osbaldwick Village, Osbaldwick Lane and Tang Hall Lane. Runners final stretch will be along Hull Road back towards Green Dykes Lane and the climb back to University Road and the finish line.
Road Closure Information
Road closures around the start/finish on University Road will be in place from 10:00 on Saturday 18th October 2025 to 23:00 on Sunday 19th October 2025. Road closures around the route will be around the route will be implemented from 06:00 – 09:30. Closures on the A166 will be in force for 06:00 with closures in the first section of the course implemented for 08:00. Closures further in the course will be implemented from 08:30 – 09:30 on the morning of the event. The final road closure will re-open for 18:00. All closures will be re-open on a rolling basis.
